Your match

Each of the eight kootas explained in turn, the Manglik check with its cancellations, the Navamsa compared, and what helps and what to watch, in plain words.

Beyond the score

Ashtakoota matching compares the Moon signs and nakshatras of two people across eight factors — Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi — worth 1 to 8 points each, 36 in all. A score is a summary, and summaries hide things: two couples with 24 points can have very different matches.

So we explain each koota in turn and show which way it leans and why. Where the texts allow an exception that cancels a dosha, we list it beside the score rather than quietly changing the number.

What else we read

  • Manglik (Kuja) dosha in both charts, with the exceptions the texts describe.
  • The Navamsa (D9) of each person, the chart traditionally read for marriage.
  • The seventh house and its lord, and Venus and Jupiter in each chart.

A word on verdicts

No calculation can decide a marriage. Use matching as one honest voice among many — alongside knowing each other, your families' wisdom and your own judgement.
