Your chart

How does this sky fall on your chart?

A retrograde means little in general and a great deal in particular: it matters which house of your chart it crosses, what it touches, and which dasha you are running. Make your kundli to see the houses, or ask Sunyra a question about this sky and your chart.

How to read this page

Everything above is calculated by Sunyra's own engine for the moment the page was built, and the page checks your clock when it opens: countdowns, progress bars and the list of coming events always match today, and if the page is more than a day old the planet table refreshes itself from the day's positions.

  • Vedic sign (sidereal) is the sign used in Jyotish, measured against the fixed stars with the Lahiri ayanamsa. Western sign (tropical) is measured from the equinox. The two differ by about 24° today, so a planet is often in a different sign in each — Venus, for example, can be in Libra for a Vedic astrologer and in Scorpio for a Western one at the same moment. Neither is "the real one"; they are two traditions with two reference points. Read the column of the tradition you follow.
  • Nakshatra is the lunar mansion — one of 27 divisions of 13°20′ — that the planet occupies in the sidereal zodiac, with its quarter (pada).
  • Retrograde (vakri in Sanskrit) means the planet appears, from Earth, to move backwards against the stars. Stationing means it is almost motionless before turning. Rahu and Ketu, the lunar nodes, always move backwards in their mean motion, so we do not count them as "retrograde" periods.

What a retrograde means, in brief

No planet actually reverses. Earth overtakes the outer planets, and the inner planets overtake Earth, and from our moving viewpoint each one seems to slow, stop and drift back for a while. Astrologers in both traditions have long paid attention to these periods, but they read them differently. Popular Western astrology treats a retrograde as a time to re-do — review, revise, reconnect — with the planet's themes running less smoothly. Classical Jyotish counts a retrograde planet as strong in motion (cheshta bala, BPHS ch. 27) and reads it through the houses it crosses in your chart, not as a general warning. Our guide What is a retrograde? sets out both views, with sources.

For each planet, the traditional associations are different:

  • Mercury retrograde — words, contracts, travel and devices; a time to check twice.
  • Venus retrograde — love, beauty, money and art; second thoughts in relationships, and creative work that goes back to the drawing board.
  • Mars retrograde — drive and anger; energy that turns inward, plans that stall, tempers that run shorter.
  • Jupiter retrograde — growth, faith and teachers; expansion that turns into reflection.
  • Saturn retrograde — duty, time and structure; old responsibilities that come back for review.

The transits of 2026–2027

The long transits shape whole years; the retrogrades colour weeks within them. Our dated guides, computed with the same engine:

A transit is not a verdict

A transit describes the weather, not your life. The same retrograde crosses a different house of every chart, meets different natal planets and arrives during a different dasha, which is why two people can live through it so differently. Use the general notes here as a starting point, then look at your own chart: make your free kundli, read your daily horoscope, and check the panchang for the day's Moon and nakshatra.

Astrology is a tradition of interpretation. These notes describe what astrologers traditionally associate with each transit; they are not predictions, and not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. A transit is read against the whole birth chart and the running dasha. Machine-readable: sky-now.json.
