Privacy policy

This policy explains what happens to information when you use sunyra.ai and the Sunyra app for Android ("Sunyra", "we", "us").

Who is responsible. Sunyra is a brand of LAISHA (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED, a company registered in India (CIN U62011WB2026OPC289399; registered office 4th Floor, Devi Market, 83 S P Mukherjee Road, Kalighat, Kolkata 700026, West Bengal, India). The same company runs Laisha, and Sunyra's accounts and servers are run on Laisha's account system. For every question or request about your data, including complaints, write to [email protected].

The short version. Charts, the panchang, matching and the Your day reading are calculated on your own device. We store birth details only when you save a chart, buy a report or use a feature that needs them. We do not sell personal data. The site shows Google ads, and Google uses cookies for them. You can delete charts, conversations and matchmaking profiles yourself, and delete your whole account at any time.

Calculations happen on your device

When you make a kundli, read the panchang, match two charts, or read Your day (the daily reading for a saved chart), the calculation runs in your own browser or app. The date, time and place you enter are not sent to our servers for this. Your day reads your saved chart's birth details from your account and does every calculation on your device; nothing about the reading is sent back.

They reach our servers only if you are signed in and choose Save this chart, buy a report, ask Sunyra a question, or make a matchmaking profile, as described below.

Your account

An account is optional. Everything on Sunyra except saved charts, Your day for your own chart, paid reports, Ask Sunyra and matchmaking works without one.

• What we keep. Your name (to greet you), your email address, your password stored only as a one-way hash (we cannot read it), whether you have confirmed your email, and when the account was created. If you use Sign in with Google, we receive the name, email address and Google account identifier that Google confirms to us; we never see your Google password.
• One account for Sunyra and Laisha. The same email and password also sign you in at laisha.ai. We do not use your charts, questions or matchmaking profile in Laisha's other services.
• Emails. All our emails come from [email protected]: one to confirm your address, a link to reset your password if you ask, and, when you buy something, a receipt and a note when your report is ready. No newsletters unless you ask for them.
• On your device. When you sign in, a sign-in token (valid for 30 days) and your name and email are kept in your browser's local storage under sunyra:session, so you stay signed in. Signing out deletes it. If you press Save or Get the report while signed out, that chart is kept in the tab's session storage until you have signed in, then removed.

Saved charts

When you choose Save this chart, we store exactly this: the label you give it, the date of birth, the time of birth (or that it is unknown), the place name, its latitude and longitude, and a time-zone override if you set one. You can keep up to 50 charts, for yourself, family or friends. Please save someone else's chart only if they are happy for you to.

Charts stay in your account until you delete them. Deleting a chart on your account page removes it from our database straight away, together with its Ask Sunyra conversations.

Reports and payments

Sunyra sells written reports (one-time purchases, delivered instantly to your account) and Ask Sunyra question packs. Prices are shown on each page.

• On the website, checkout is provided by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record, on its own secure page. Your card or other payment details go to Dodo Payments, never to us, and their privacy policy applies to what you enter there. We receive the result: whether the payment succeeded, the amount and currency, a payment reference and the email used.
• In the Sunyra Android app, purchases are made through Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment under the Google Play terms and Google's privacy policy; we never see your card or payment details. We receive from Google the product you bought, the order number, a purchase token and its status, which we use to check the purchase is real, deliver it to your account, and note it if Google later refunds or cancels it.
• What we keep. A record of each purchase (your account, the product, which chart or charts it was for, the payment or order reference, amount, date and status). We keep these for as long as Indian tax and company law requires (currently up to eight years), and so you can open a report you bought again.
• The chart behind a report. To prepare and re-deliver a report you bought, we keep a copy of that chart's birth details (the same fields as above) with the purchase, even if you later delete the saved chart.
• Checkout reminders. If you start a payment on the website while signed in and don't finish it, we may send one reminder email about two hours later with a link back to the same page. Never more than one per checkout, and every reminder has a link to stop them for good.

Gifts

You can buy a report as a gift for someone else on sunyra.ai/gift.

• What we need from you. The recipient's name, email address and birth details (date, time if known, place), and, if you add them, a short message and the name to sign it with. Please only enter someone's details if you are sure they would welcome the gift.
• Where the recipient's details go. They are kept only with your gift purchase, to write and deliver that one report. They are not saved as a chart in your account, and nobody else can see them. The recipient's email address is used only to send them the gift (once, now or on the day you chose) and is never added to any list.
• Who can open the report. It opens only with a private link that we email to the recipient and give to you on your receipt and gift page. Anyone you forward that link to can open it, so share it only with people you trust.
• If the recipient keeps it. They can save the gift into their own free Sunyra account; their chart and report then belong to that account and they can delete them like any other. We record which account kept it. The gift's share link becomes theirs.
• How long. Gift purchases, and the birth details behind each gift report, are kept like other purchase records (see below). The recipient, or you, can ask us to delete the recipient's details at any time by writing to [email protected]; the purchase record itself stays for tax law.

Ask Sunyra

Ask Sunyra answers questions about one of your saved charts. It needs an account; you get free questions to start, and further questions come in paid packs.

• How answers are made. Our own server computes the chart from its saved birth details and composes the answer with Sunyra's in-house reading engine, from the chart's computed positions and Sunyra's own articles. Your question and your chart are not sent to any outside AI provider. If that ever changes, we will update this page before it happens.
• What we keep. Each conversation (your questions and the answers) is kept in your account, linked to its chart, so you can read it again. You can delete a conversation at any time; deleting the chart deletes its conversations too. We also keep a count of the questions you have used and bought.
• Improving answers. To learn which questions the reading engine does not yet understand, we keep an anonymised log of question text and the topic it was matched to, with birth details, dates, times, names, places, emails and phone numbers stripped out and no link to your account or chart. If you press 👍 or 👎 on an answer, that vote is kept with the answer and in the same anonymised log. No outside service sees either.
• Please do not put anything in a question that you would not want stored, such as health records, ID numbers or other people's private details.
• Not advice. Answers are astrological interpretation, not medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. If you write that you are in danger or thinking of harming yourself, the answer points you to helplines, and that answer is never charged.

Share links and referrals

Your account page gives you a personal share link (sunyra.ai/r/…) with a short code that identifies your account to us, never to the people you share it with.

• If you open someone's share link, your browser keeps that short code for up to 60 days (in its own storage, not a cookie), and the link's open is added to a count. When you sign in, the code is sent once so we can record which account brought yours. That gives you free questions to Ask Sunyra, and when you buy a report it counts towards a free report for the person who shared it.
• The person who shared the link sees only how many friends joined and bought, never who you are or what you bought. We keep the link between the two accounts, and the counts, for as long as both accounts exist.
• If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the code is not kept or counted.
• A report's last page may carry a one-time claim code for a gift report; we record which account claimed it.

Matchmaking (if you use it)

"Find a match" is optional, for adults only (18 or over), and switched off until we announce it. If you use it:

• Profile. A profile is made from one of your saved charts (at most two profiles per account, for example you and one family member, with their agreement). We store the details you enter: first name and last initial, gender, who made the profile, marital status, city and country, religion, community and mother tongue if you give them, education, profession, height, an "about" text, the partner preferences you set, and your privacy choices, together with the chart it was made from.
• What other members see. First name and last initial, age, city and country, the optional details above, the approved "about" text, the photo if your settings allow it, whether your email is confirmed, and a chart summary (Moon sign, nakshatra, Manglik). Never your birth date, time or place, your email address or your account. Contact details are not allowed in profiles.
• Photo. A photo you add is re-encoded on our server with all metadata (including any GPS location) removed; the original upload is not kept. Photos are checked by a person before anyone else can see them, and you can keep yours visible only to mutual matches. Photos are shown only through short-lived private links.
• Interests, matches and chat. We keep the interests you send and receive, mutual matches, blocks, and the messages you exchange with a match in member chat. Messages pass through an automatic filter for abuse and spam. Anything you report, and profile text and photos awaiting approval, is reviewed by our moderators.
• Deleting. You can delete a profile, or all your matchmaking data, at any time from the matchmaking page. That removes the profiles, their photos, interests, matches and the chat history of those matches straight away.
• Matchmaking profiles are never shown to search engines.

Community forum (when open)

If you post in the forum, your post, its title and your display name are published on sunyra.ai after moderation, and can be read by anyone. You can delete your own posts.

Advertising and cookies

Sunyra is free because it shows advertising from Google AdSense, on the website and in the Android app.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to Sunyra and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
• How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent, through a Google-certified consent message, before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time from the "Privacy and cookie settings" link that the consent message provides.

Sunyra itself sets no cookies. What it keeps on your device (sign-in, theme, a share code) is in your browser's local or session storage, as described on this page.

Visit counts

Pages send a tiny, anonymous count when they open and at each step of buying (report page viewed, buy pressed, sign-in, checkout opened, report opened). Each count only adds 1 to a daily total: the page address, the website you came from (its name only), the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), your country (as our network reports it) or your browser's time zone, and any campaign tag in the link. No cookie is set, no ID is created, your IP address is not stored, and nothing is linked to your account. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted. The totals are read only by us. We use no third-party analytics service.

Other information

• Place search. When you press Find to look up a birth place, the name you typed is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to get its coordinates, under the OSMF privacy policy. If you press Use my location on the panchang, your device's location is used on your device only and is not sent to us.
• Videos. Videos are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode and load only when you press play; after that, Google's privacy policy applies.
• Fonts and assets are served from our own domain; no font requests go to third parties.
• Server logs. Our hosting providers keep standard request logs (IP address, page, time, browser) for security and reliability, for a short period. Our account servers do not log the content of what you send them.

Who processes data for us

We use these service providers, each only to run the part of Sunyra named:

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in India, the United States and the European Union. We share personal data with others only when the law requires it, to protect people from harm, or if the business is transferred, and then only under this policy.

How long we keep things

Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you (in a portable format), correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw consent or object to processing. Depending on where you live (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, the GDPR, the UK GDPR or US state laws) these are legal rights, and you may also complain to your data-protection authority.

• Delete things yourself: charts and conversations on your account page, matchmaking data on the matchmaking page.
• Delete your account: see Delete your account. We delete it within 30 days.
• Everything else, and complaints: write to [email protected] from the email you signed up with. We reply within 30 days, sooner where the law requires.

Children

Sunyra is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. You must be 18 or over to buy a report or a question pack, and to use matchmaking. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

Connections to Sunyra are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, matchmaking photos are served only through short-lived signed links, and access to our servers is limited to the people who run them. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Changes

When our practices change we update this page and its date. If a change matters to how your data is used, we will say so on the site, or by email to account holders, before it takes effect.
