Mars leaves its debilitation
On the twelfth of November twenty twenty-six, Mars leaves Cancer, the sign of its debilitation, and enters Leo, the sign of its friend the Sun. After months in a sign where its fire was turned inward, Mars moves to a sign where it is confident and proud. And Mars will stay in or near Leo for a long time, because early next year it turns retrograde there. In this video: the dates, what Mars in Leo means for everyone, how to read it from your Moon sign, and what it may bring for each of the twelve signs.
The dates
Here are the dates, in the sidereal zodiac, computed with the Sunyra engine. Mars enters Leo on the twelfth of November. It turns retrograde in Leo on the tenth of January twenty twenty-seven, and slips back into Cancer on the ninth of March, the tenth in India. It turns direct on the first of April, returns to Leo on the twenty-sixth of April, and finally moves on into Virgo in early July twenty twenty-seven. So Mars spends most of the next eight months in Leo, with a short return to Cancer in the spring.
Mars in Leo
What does Mars in Leo mean? Leo is the sign of the Sun, and the Sun is Mars's friend. Here, astrologers read Mars as confident, generous and proud: courage that wants to lead and to be seen. It favours bold initiatives, leadership, sport, creative performance, and standing up for what you believe in. Its shadow side is pride.
Mars in Leo can take things personally, and turn disagreements into contests of ego. And from the tenth of January, when Mars turns retrograde, the tradition advises patience: finish and repair, rather than force new battles. We made a full video on the Mars retrograde of twenty twenty-seven.
How to read it
To read the transit for yourself, count the house Leo falls in from your Moon sign. Classically, Mars's transit is most helpful in the third, sixth and eleventh houses from the Moon: the houses of courage, overcoming rivals, and gains. And from Leo, Mars casts its special aspects on Scorpio, Aquarius and Pisces. As always, the dasha decides how strongly a transit is felt.
Aries to Virgo
Aries Moon: Mars, your Moon sign's own lord, moves into your fifth house: energy for romance, creativity and children, but avoid risky speculation. Taurus Moon: the fourth house: energy goes into home and property. Keep calm with family. Gemini Moon: the third house, one of the classic good placements: courage, initiative, short journeys and enterprise succeed. Cancer Moon: Mars leaves your Moon sign for your second house: energy turns to money and family, so speak gently.
Leo Moon: Mars arrives on your Moon sign: drive and visibility rise, and so can impatience. Pace yourself. Virgo Moon: the twelfth house: expenses and fatigue need watching. Rest, and finish quietly.
Libra to Pisces
Libra Moon: the eleventh house, the classic house of gains: effort pays off, and friends help. Scorpio Moon: the tenth house, with Mars, your Moon's lord, also aspecting your Moon sign: a push at work and in your public role. Sagittarius Moon: the ninth house: energy for travel, study and beliefs. Avoid arguments with teachers. Capricorn Moon: the eighth house: the tradition advises care with health, shared money and sudden changes.
Avoid unnecessary risks. Aquarius Moon: the seventh house, with Mars aspecting your Moon: passion and friction in partnership. Choose patience. And Pisces Moon: the sixth house, another classic good placement, with Mars also aspecting your Moon sign: you overcome rivals and obstacles with energy, and work improves with effort.
