Eid al-Adha falls on the tenth day of Dhul Hijjah, the month of the Hajj. Its date depends on the sighting of the crescent that opens the month, so the date below is the expected one and can move by a day.
The days (expected)
Day of Arafah (expected)
The day before Eid al-Adha, when pilgrims of the Hajj stand at Arafat.
Eid al-Adha (expected)
The festival of sacrifice, remembering Ibrahim’s faith: Eid prayers, and a share of the meal for neighbours and those in need.
Expected date for South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh); in Saudi Arabia and much of the Gulf it is usually a day earlier. Eid begins with the sighting of the crescent and may fall a day earlier or later; your local mosque or committee announces it.
