Mother or father: which parent does your fourth house show? It depends on which tradition you ask. In Vedic astrology, the fourth house is the mother, and the father is read from the ninth. Traditional Western astrology does the opposite: the father from the fourth, and the mother from the tenth. Modern Western astrologers often read the fourth as whichever parent was the primary nurturer.
