What the Rahu period tends to bring
Rahu signifies ambition, the foreign, the unconventional and obsession. Its period commonly brings big changes of direction, opportunities in new fields, and restlessness. Because Rahu acts through its dispositor, nakshatra lord and conjunctions, two people's Rahu periods can be very different.
When Rahu is strong, and when it is strained
Rahu works best in the 3rd, 6th, 10th or 11th, with a strong dispositor, or with benefics. It is more strained with the luminaries, in the 8th or 12th when afflicted, or with a weak dispositor.
The nine antardashas
Each mahadasha is divided into nine sub-periods (antardashas or bhuktis), beginning with the mahadasha lord itself and following the Vimshottari order. Each antardasha lasts (mahadasha years × antardasha years) ÷ 120 years.
