What it means for you
Sagittarius Moon right now
As of 3 November 2026: Jupiter is in Leo (your 9th from the Moon), Saturn in Pisces (your 4th) and Rahu in Aquarius (your 3rd). For today, use the daily calendar.
- Love & marriageMixedLove follows your own chart’s periods more than the sky this season; small kindnesses count.
- CareerFavouredJupiter: luck, teachers, faith and long journeys are on your side. Saturn: a dhaiya: simplify at home and care for parents calmly.
- MoneyMixedRahu in your 3rd favours bold, well-researched moves.
- Health habitsNeeds careSaturn’s dhaiya asks for steady health habits.
When it shows most: the slow planets set the season for a year or more; the Moon’s daily passage times the days within it.
Why we say this
- Transits are counted as houses from your natal Moon sign (Phaladeepika ch. 26).
- Jupiter is favourable in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th; Saturn and Rahu in the 3rd, 6th and 11th.
- Saturn in the 12th, 1st and 2nd from the Moon is Sade Sati; in the 4th and 8th, dhaiya.
This reads the sky for everyone with this Moon sign; your own dashas and ascendant decide how strongly it lands. Make your free kundli to see your own.
In short: Dhanu rashi, the Moon in Sagittarius, describes an optimistic, honest, philosophical and freedom-loving mind that needs meaning, movement and space.

Sade Sati and dhaiya for Sagittarius Moon
Sade Sati, the roughly seven-and-a-half-year passage of Saturn over the Moon, runs for a Sagittarius Moon while Saturn transits the 12th, 1st and 2nd signs from it — Saturn in Scorpio (12th from the Moon), Sagittarius (1st) and Capricorn (2nd). The two-and-a-half-year dhaiya periods come with Saturn in Pisces (4th) and Cancer (8th). Classical texts read these as periods of pressure and maturing; their actual effects depend on Saturn's strength in the natal chart, the running dasha and the ashtakavarga scores of the signs. Sunyra calculates the exact dates in the kundli.
Favourable transits for Sagittarius Moon
Vedic transit reading (gochara) counts from the natal Moon. Following the favourable houses in Phaladeepika (ch. 26), for a Sagittarius Moon these transits are traditionally supportive, before obstruction (vedha) and ashtakavarga are applied:
| Planet | Traditionally favourable when transiting |
|---|---|
| Jupiter | Capricorn, Aries, Gemini, Leo and Libra |
| Saturn | Aquarius, Taurus and Libra |
| Rahu and Ketu | Aquarius, Taurus and Libra |
| Mars | Aquarius, Taurus and Libra |
| Sun | Aquarius, Taurus, Virgo and Libra |
Daily horoscopes by Moon sign on Sunyra are written from the actual transits counted this way — see the horoscope.
Matching notes
In Ashtakoota matching, the Moon sign contributes three of the eight kootas: varna (Kshatriya for Sagittarius), vashya (Manava (first half) / Chatushpada (second half)) and bhakoot, which compares the two Moon signs. Bhakoot is traditionally counted as a dosha when the partner's Moon is 2nd/12th, 6th/8th or 5th/9th from each other:
| Relationship to a Sagittarius Moon | Partner's Moon signs |
|---|---|
| 2/12 (dosha) | Scorpio and Capricorn |
| 6/8 (dosha) | Taurus and Cancer |
| 5/9 (dosha) | Aries and Leo |
| No bhakoot dosha | Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Pisces |
Classical practice lists cancellations of bhakoot dosha — for example when the two Moon signs share the same lord or their lords are friends — and the whole of both charts matters far more than any one koota. See matching.
The graha maitri koota (up to 5 points) compares the lords of the two Moon signs by their natural friendship in BPHS. For a Sagittarius Moon, whose lord is Jupiter:
| Partner's Moon sign | Its lord | Graha maitri points |
|---|---|---|
| Aries | Mars | 5 |
| Taurus | Venus | 0.5 |
| Gemini | Mercury | 0.5 |
| Cancer | Moon | 4 |
| Leo | Sun | 5 |
| Virgo | Mercury | 0.5 |
| Libra | Venus | 0.5 |
| Scorpio | Mars | 5 |
| Sagittarius | Jupiter | 5 |
| Capricorn | Saturn | 3 |
| Aquarius | Saturn | 3 |
| Pisces | Jupiter | 5 |
The Western view
In Western astrology the Moon sign is usually tropical, about one sign ahead of the sidereal rashi for most people, so a Vedic Sagittarius Moon is often a Western Capricorn Moon. Western astrologers read the Moon sign as emotional needs and instinctive reactions, much as Vedic astrologers read the rashi as the mind.
