In short: Rahu in Capricorn brings the north node's hunger for the new into Capricorn's territory: ambition for status, structure and achievement. Ketu sits opposite in Cancer, so the axis runs between the unfamiliar pull of Capricorn and the familiar ease of Cancer. Which life area it colours depends on the ascendant: the table further down shows each one.

Dignity
Rahu's dignity in Capricorn is not defined in the main classical schemes. The nodes' exaltation and debilitation signs differ between texts, so most Parashari astrologers read Rahu first through its dispositor, Saturn, then through its nakshatra lord and the planets it joins. In Capricorn the dispositor is Saturn, whose own condition therefore sets the tone.
The Vedic view
Rahu has no sign of its own, so in Capricorn it acts largely through Saturn, the sign's lord, and through the nakshatra it occupies. Classical texts treat Rahu as a magnifier: it amplifies the matters of its sign and house, often producing ambition, fascination and sudden change. Modern Vedic astrologers read Rahu in Capricorn as a strong desire to experience Capricorn's themes — ambition for status, structure and achievement — which can bring rapid gains in those areas and also restlessness or confusion until the desire is understood.
With Ketu in Cancer, the person may feel naturally detached from Cancer's themes or have mastered them already; growth tends to come from engaging with Capricorn consciously while drawing on the skills of Cancer. Lal Kitab, which reads Rahu by house rather than sign, gives its own remedies for each placement.
In Saturn's sign, Rahu takes on Saturn's patience and ambition — the maxim 'Rahu acts like Saturn' is often quoted for this placement. Saturn's condition as dispositor is central.
Character and temperament
Rahu signifies desire, ambition, the foreign, the new and the unconventional; Capricorn is practical, ambitious and enduring. As a movable sign, Capricorn starts things, moves fast and likes initiative, and Rahu takes on that rhythm.
Strengths: drive, originality and the courage to pursue Capricorn's themes in unconventional ways. At its best this is the boldness to break a pattern no one else questions.
Challenges: obsession, dissatisfaction and illusion around the same themes. Its familiar trap is never feeling it is enough.
Love and marriage
Because Saturn disposits it, the love life follows Saturn's pattern — it brings commitment and loyalty, often with delay or an age gap, and love that deepens slowly — with Rahu turning up the intensity. With Ketu across the axis in Cancer, the lesson is to balance committed, responsible love with nurturing, family-centred love. Rahu in any sign draws unconventional or cross-cultural attractions and intense, obsessive feelings; in Capricorn that becomes committed, responsible love. Capricorn is an earth sign, and in love it shows love through reliability, touch and practical care. Cancer rising puts Capricorn, and Rahu, in the 7th house of marriage. As a rule, Rahu is attracted to the unusual, the foreign or the forbidden, and needs honesty to keep desire grounded.
Career and money
For work, Saturn the dispositor suits administration, law, mining, oil, labour, engineering, research and long-term service, and Rahu pushes it toward new, foreign, technical or large-scale versions. Professionally, Rahu suits technology, foreign work, media, politics, aviation and anything new or disruptive. Work-wise the movable sign starts things, moves fast and likes initiative. For Aries rising it sits in the 10th, the house of career, where Rahu's ambition meets public life. Where money is concerned, income can come suddenly from unusual or foreign sources and needs guarding. Wealth themes are strongest for Sagittarius rising (the 2nd house) and Pisces rising (the 11th).
Health and wellbeing
Rahu is linked with unusual or hard-to-diagnose complaints, anxiety and addictions, and Capricorn with the knees, joints and bones, so these are the areas tradition watches. A helpful habit: a clear limit on screens, speculation and stimulants. This is traditional astrology, not medical advice.
The dispositor
Saturn rules Capricorn, so Saturn is Rahu's dispositor. Wherever Saturn sits by house and sign is where Rahu's energy in Capricorn is finally spent; a strong Saturn supports it, a weak one asks more of it.
By nakshatra
Within Capricorn, Rahu falls in one of these nakshatras, whose lord becomes a second dispositor and shares in its periods:
0°–10°: Rahu in Uttara Ashadha, ruled by the Sun; deity the Vishvedevas, the universal gods; for money it earns lasting success through principle.
10°–23°20′: Rahu in Shravana, ruled by the Moon; deity Vishnu, the preserver; in love it listens and learns a partner deeply.
23°20′–30°: Rahu in Dhanishta, ruled by Mars; deity the eight Vasus, gods of the elements; for work it points to music, real estate, finance, sport and group work.
By rising sign
Lordship changes with the rising sign, so the table below shows where Rahu in Capricorn sits and what it governs in each case.

Navamsa and the two zodiacs
Between 0° and 3°20′ Capricorn, Rahu is vargottama — in Capricorn in both the birth chart and the navamsa (D9) — which classical texts treat as a mark of consistency and strength. Readers who know their Western chart may find Rahu in Aquarius there: the sidereal–tropical gap is roughly 24°.
Rahu transiting Capricorn
Time in the sign: about eighteen months in each sign (moving backwards). From the Moon, the transit is classed as good for those with the Moon in Scorpio, Leo and Pisces (Phaladeepika ch. 26), subject to vedha and ashtakavarga. While the nodes cross Capricorn and Cancer, eclipses fall on this axis, and the houses these signs occupy in a chart become restless or active.
The Western view
In Western astrology the North Node in Capricorn is read, in modern evolutionary astrology, as a direction of growth toward public responsibility and vocation, with the South Node in Cancer showing what is familiar. Medieval astrology gave the North Node exaltation in Gemini; tropical and sidereal positions differ by about a sign, so check which zodiac a chart uses.
